Last month I had so much fun with one of the most talented duos I know, Elin and John. We met during our time at Austin Film Society and have worked on several film projects. It was such a pleasure putting together this photoshoot with them for their movie inspired wedding. Here are some in-between shots from the main shoot.

I had the great pleasure of coming to Patrice Mallard’s home a couple weeks ago to help her re-brand her eco-landscaping company with some new portraits. I loved exploring her urban farm and we got some great photos! The colors and setting really captured the essence of what I have come to love about Austin.

Swedish Fish

I finally got to visit my long-time “penpal” and good friend Sofia in her home country of Sweden! We have corresponded since 5th grade. She visit Texas a few years ago, but now we have both gotten to see each other’s homes.

Sweden is an absolutely gorgeous country! It felt a lot like home in Idaho, but older somehow. I loved the colors of the red and white houses, the blonde hair, and the deep blue waters of the surrounding seas. Check out my photos from the trip below!

Util

Util is a new eco start-up in Austin, TX exploring technologies in Kite energy. We met out at the Bio Squat in East Austin where they have built incredible recycled structures, fountains, and generators. I love how the pictures turned out, because they really capture the beauty of this place. What some people see as junk, these people are able to transform into art. It is really inspiring.

Kids

One of my favorite subjects to photograph are kids. Today, most parents flash the camera in children’s faces all the time. When they see a lens they know they are supposed to smile big and fake. It’s training. However, when a kid is busy playing, absorbed in their own adventures, they can often forget the camera is there.

Last weekend, I had an event shoot where there where kids in the pool, in the bouncy house, and getting their faces painted. This was my favorite image of the bunch. This little girl picked to have her face painted as a panda, even though it looks a lot creepier than any bear I have ever seen. The running pain and mash up of snow cone colors really made this photo sing “childhood” to me.

Bluebonnet Retreat

For all of those who live in Texas you know one of the most special times of the year is wildflower season. The offical state flower is the bluebonnet, a bright blue and purple lupin. There are blankets of flowers on every highway and in every park. This weekend I got out with some family friends to take some pictures amongst the flowers at McKinney Falls State Park.

La Llorona – Short Film

This weekend in a very empty house, which is on death row. In its last moment of glory is was used for the filming of the short film LA LLORONA. It is a horror film (as you will see in the photos below) and the make-up artistry is outstanding. All custom made for the shoot, the villian looked amazing.

Sunny Seattle

Seattle was incredibly sunny this weekend. Not a drop of rain. Got a sunburn. And explored the city by foot, ferry, and Subaru. We stayed with my cousins in the University district, near Wayward Coffee (a sci-fi/firefly themed coffee shop) and Pies & Pints. We saw my cousin’s bio lab at UW, visited Adobe where my other cousin works, and went skiing with my parents at Stephen’s Pass–yeah, it was a family affair. However, I made an effort to use this trip as an excuse to photograph all the details of the trip.
